Vistalite Collections - Paolo Sburlati

Paolo has one of the most extensive Vistalite collections in the world. He is also the author of 'Ludwig Yesterday and Today 1909 - 1999' (see review at LudwigDrummer.com) and has a genuine passion for his plastic percussion. He sent me this email along with the pictures shown below. You're a lovely, lovely man Paolo - thank you for sharing your passion with us.....

"Seems you're very interested in Vistalites, the best lookin' drums on earth. Years ago, before publisihing my book, I was at the NAMM show in LA and Bill II was there, I showed him pics of my collection and he stopped on the Vista pics, he said: "Weren't they beautiful? It was my idea!" and the day after he asked me my pics again in order to go thru'em again and relive those years. He then said: "Thank you, you made my day!" There I was in front of this incredible man who has seen the best in those years, he did his best for all of us today and he was thanking me for lettin' him see these pictures. Bill is like a father for me now, he was proud I did that book and he wrote nice forewords for it. Bill definitely deserves the best from all of us drummers, we must be thankful for what he and his dad did in the past. Nobody ever surpassed what Ludwig created and pattern Vistalites have been the utmost development a drummer could expect on earth.

I understand you understood these facts as well and I encourage you to develop your Ludwig website. And I hope someday somebody will make those colorful shells again. I tried here in Italy, cost too much, but how nice would be to offer many more Patterns with many more colors. I know a specialist in Torino he works all kinda Plexiglass materials and he takes care of my Vista kits. In his shop I've seen samples of incredibvle colors, transparent a fluorescent plexi. How nice would be to have clear red, green, dark yellow, purple, maroon, hazy white, light blue, dark blue, indago, turquoise... all in Pattern Vistalite. Bill would love this!!

Ciao my friend.
PAOLO"
