Vistalite Collections - Captain BeardyI don't know if it'll be of any interest, but I've recently finished making a 20" clear acrylic gong-bass drum from scratch. The shell, along with the shells for the concert toms I also built were from `Ricochet' drums,( though I've heard they're no longer in business?).  The Gong bass drum is mounted in a stainless steel hoop and suspended via three car exhaust rubber mounting blocks ! I tried to obtain the Tama gong bass drum lugs initially, but it was proving to be too much hassle, so being a handy sort of chap, I made my own . I have a small workshop and turned-up / milled / welded most of the parts. The bearing edges were formed by myself with a sharp cabinet scraper ! Cheers,    |
