Vistalite Collections - Allan Fisher

Allan Fisher lives in Scotland and has got one of the finest collections of Vistalites anywhere. In addition to a range of Vistalite snare drums, Allan has got kits in almost all of the rainbow Vistalite patterns.

In the summer of 2002 Allan Fisher managed to pick up what is widely regarded as the ultimate Vistalite kit - the "Tivoli".

The Tivoli kit was launched in 1978, making its debt in the 1980 Ludwig brochure. The kit involved taking a 3-band (pattern A) kit and building strings of lights around the two middle seams.

When lit, the lights produce a stunning effect and the entire drum kit glows in the dark.

Tivoli kits were problematic with many suffering electrical failures. A working Tivoli kit is probably the single most sought after Vistalite on the market today.

In the day light you can see the mass of wiring that goes to make the kit shine. The central junction box is mounted on the bass drum and the whole thing is powered by an external power supply.

Allan's latest acquisition is this uber-rare black/blue vertical bar kit...

Allan is something of a drumsmith himself, creating this superb acrylic snare.

Allan keeps a Sonor Acryl kit for gigs and rehersals.
