2006 Steam Plough Challenge

Having made the journey to Nottinghamshire, we borrowed a plough to take part in the challenge.

William was in fine form and ready for the event.

We pulled the plough to the field and met up with the partner engine, hooked up the cables and we were ready to go.

With an engine at either side of the field, the plough is pulled across the field to do it's work.

James steered and Bob provided some ballast.

The plough being pulled to the engine.

On the Saturday evening we took part in the great line up - 26 ploughing engines in steam together...

...a magnificent sight.

A diesel conversion - a steam engine fitted with a diesel engine in the 1930s. This example had a BMC A-series petrol engine as a starter motor!

Sunday morning - we had to raise steam under a heavy fog.
