Welcome to a little corner of the internet devoted to Vistalite drums. Vistalite was the trade name used by Ludwig for it's line of acrylic drums in the 1970s. Although Ludwig are now synonymous with acrylic drums, there were many other manufacturers - in fact, there still are. Use the links at the top of each page to explore the site.

VISTALITES.COM is funded and run entirely on a private basis. VISTALITES.COM is not associated with the Selmer Corporation or the Ludwig Drum Company in any way. We do like their drums though.

Kelly's heroes

It's always great to hear from people who have such a passion for Vistalite drums. VISTALITES.COM sends a special greeting to Kelly Abernathy from Kansas who has spent the past couple of years collecting and restoring this magnificent blue double-bass kit.

Heading up Kelly's wish list is a 15 inch rack tom to sit alongside those others and really complete this set. If you can help, please drop us a line - now you wouldn't want to leave the lady disappointed, would you?

Keep hitting those skins Kelly....

VISTA-HISTORY

- With so many modern drummers returning to acrylic shells (including a rumour about Simon Phillips) here is a great photo from the 1970s of a pre-Police Stewart Copeland with his Vistalite kit (thanks Luca).
